Positive Reviews
positive:
Great lunches and evening meals
Guests tend to rate the quality of the food in the Bistro as excellent with the service to match. There are, of course, occasional disappointments but one national newspaper review goes so far as to describe the bistro as the “jewel in the crown” at this B&B.
positive:
Calming and comfortable rooms
Although a handful of guests found cause for minor concern, the general consensus is that the rooms are clean and comfortable and mostly of a reasonable size. The coastal decor and driftwood furniture have a calming effect, as do the luxurious linens and deluxe bath amenities.
positive:
Nothing too much trouble for staff
Guests are consistently complimentary about the service they encountered at the Gallivant, with many saying that the owners and staff are friendly and helpful without ever coming across as intrusive or overbearing.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Some disappointment with breakfast
Rates here include a continental-style breakfast and while many guests were satisfied with this, others were disappointed to learn that a cooked breakfast would incur extra charges. Room rates aren't particularly low, so there's a feeling among guests that a hot meal would be more appropriate.
negative:
Lack of sea views
Despite this property's proximity to the sea, it seems to lack the sea views to match. A number of guests mention that instead of being able to enjoy views of the water, they could only see the main road and a car park with bins full to the brim.
negative:
Issues for families
Although this B&B welcomes families, it seems to have done away with the larger rooms. This means that families can generally only be accommodated across two rooms, which bumps up the price. Also, information packs suggest that only “well behaved” children can dine on-site. This tends to get guests' backs up from the start.
