Positive Reviews
positive:
Picturesque countryside setting.
The hotel is surrounded by acres of private grounds and the surrounding Surrey countryside. Guests enjoyed spending time in the gardens especially during warmer weather when they could sit and enjoy a few drinks on the lawn. There are no noisy pubs or clubs nearby so if you are looking for a peaceful country retreat you won’t be disappointed.
positive:
Quality spa facilities.
The on-site spa including the indoor pool, steam room and gym have been described as being of high quality and well presented. There are loungers round the pool where guests can relax after their swim and many also appreciated the complimentary toiletries in the changing rooms.
positive:
Hearty and tasty breakfasts.
Many of the guests complimented the quality of food served at breakfast and also the variety of choices on offer. Apart from various items available at the buffet guests could also request a freshly cooked traditional English breakfast which many thoroughly enjoyed. Portions were served hot and were also said to be of generous size.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Unimpressive decor.
The interior of the rooms left many guests quite disappointed as they described the furniture as old fashioned and the upholstery, including the carpets and curtains as equally dated and tatty. Many objected to stains found on the upholstery and the dark and sombre colour scheme of the rooms.
negative:
Slow service at the restaurant.
Guests complained about waiting longer than expected to receive their orders and also said that they had difficulties in attracting the attention of the waiting staff even at times when the dining was not very busy.
negative:
Soundproofing problems.
Noise from the adjoining rooms, including being able to hear televisions and conversations from neighbouring suites prevented many guests from having a restful night’s sleep.
