They feature microwaves and minibars so guests can prepare their own snacks and drinks, as well as flat screen TVs and free Wi-Fi to remain informed, entertained and connected. Leisure travellers are well taken care of, with a lovely outdoor pool, sauna and a spa. Business travellers and event groups can make use of the function rooms and facilities. Situated on the top floor, and so affording excellent views, the restaurant at Marina Resort offers hearty traditional cuisine and is open for breakfast and dinner. The Nelson Bay area is very popular with those looking to get out onto the water. Dolphin and whale watching tours can be arranged, or for the more adventurous, fishing charters and diving trips are available.
It seems that those in marina facing rooms on the property's upper floors were the happiest guests. They reported that the views form these rooms over the marina and ocean were spectacular and that they really enjoyed them.
The overwhelming majority of guests were very happy with the location of the property. Aside from the views it afforded, they also liked that it was a relatively short walk to the marina, town and beach. Several mentioned that they really didn't need a car once they were there.
A large number of guests reported finding their room to be very spacious, and certainly larger than they were expecting. It seems that guests felt they had enough room for all the members of their party.
This was by far what most upset guests about the property. Guest after guest mentioned that the décor was very dated, and was in desperate need of updating. For many it was not merely that it was old fashioned, but that the stains and general wear and tear over the years resulted in a poor impression.
A surprising number of guests reported that they simply couldn't get their TV remote to work. It wasn't a case of weak batteries, but seemed to be a general problem with the TV's experienced by many guests. Of course this resulted in a good deal of frustration.
There were quite a number of complaints about the soundproofing, or rather lack of it, between rooms. It was mentioned that it was quite easy to hear even regular sounds, like people talking or a TV playing at normal volume, coming from adjacent rooms.
