Positive Reviews
positive:
Lovely location conveniently near the ferry.
The ferry to bring you across the isles is close by, allowing for the inn to be a nice base from which to explore the area. As if the beautiful scenery right around the inn wasn't enough to enjoy, it's also easy to get around by car, and see the lovely sites that make this such a lovely West Coast holiday.
positive:
Lunch and dinner menu has a good varied selection.
The cuisine includes Italian, Scottish, American, Mexican, and Asian dishes, and is fairly priced. Portions are filling, and many of the ingredients are locally sourced. Given that similar options exist off the grounds, this is a good way to relax onsite with some of your favourite foods.
positive:
Pleasant staff nicely reflect the Arran atmosphere.
Working in a bed and breakfast right off the isle has translated well for the staff. They're friendly, funny, and all about doing whatever's possible so that every guest has a great time. Lamlash Bay has a great, welcoming atmosphere, and the service reflects that.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Shabby conditions need attention and makeovers.
Many are let down by the appearance and functioning of the rooms and bathrooms. The linens, curtains, walls, fixtures, and furniture show serious signs of needing repair, makeover, or replacement. The cost of the rooms does not justify what you get for it.
negative:
Floors and walls are super thin which ruin sleep.
Not only will you hear the restaurant and pub noise, but the walls and floors throughout are thin. Every noise, from shoes to voices to rustling around equipment or closing doors can disrupt sleep.
negative:
Breakfast times can interfere with ferry times.
Breakfast availability is not always conducive to catching the ferry. Try talking to the hosts if the meal time is going to conflict with your schedule.
