The Old Manse Oban is an old-world B&B set in a Victorian house built in the 19th century. It is situated in the amazing west coast town of Oban. There are six rooms featuring free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs and tea and coffee making facilities. CD players with a selection of CDs is also available. All the rooms also have en suite bathrooms, while some have panoramic sea views. A family suite has two connecting rooms. The Old Manse is a smoke free property. It has a beautiful landscaped garden and off-street parking is free. The inn permits children above eight years of age. There is a dining room overlooking the amazing gardens where guests can enjoy complimentary full Scottish breakfast. Evening meals can be arranged for a surcharge. Oban town centre and Distillery are a five-minute walk from the inn, while the train station and ferry terminal are an 11-minute walk.
Guests were highly impressed by the lovely, warm welcome by the hosts. Even before arrival guests were sent emails regarding room allocation, directions to the house etc, and on arrival guests were greeted with a nice pot of tea and homemade biscuits. Fresh flowers were also kept in the room. All the guests liked the hospitality extended by the hosts and were keen on returning back to the inn.
Rooms in the inn have simple decor but are very clean and up-to-date. All the rooms also feature CD players with a collection of CDs. The guests found it a great way for relaxation. Plus, many rooms have splendid sea views over the Oban bay and all are equipped with TVs, comfortable beds as well as free Wi-Fi. Books are also available in the rooms.
The Scottish breakfast served at the inn was liked by all the guests. There was a lot of variety offered and it was all freshly cooked. Moreover, guests loved the fact that the breakfast was made to order as per their demands. Generous portions were served, it was very tasty and cooked to perfection.Top of Form
Some guests mentioned that the fixtures in the rooms and the decor was a little dated and needed refurbishment. Some refurbishment would do well to uplift the look of the premises.
One or two found the inn to be overpriced, given the dated decor and basic accommodations. It was felt to be more expensive than other options of a similar standard.
