When you close your eyes and imagine Greece, no doubt a picture of blue skies and azure seas comes to mind. You may imagine little villages with their cluster of houses and gardens and walls lined with potted geraniums. Well, the Sunflower Apartments is very like this picture. They are like a tiny typically Greek neighbourhood; fresh and light and connected with little courtyards. Flower pots and flower beds sit along the paths and the sea is so close that its fragrance often wafts through the welcoming space. Inside, the studios are delightfully simple and unassuming. You have everything you need for a fuss-free holiday. The staff at Sunflower Apartments ensure that the rooms and all the spaces are impeccably clean and they pride themselves on this feature. The studios are open-plan and airy. A kitchenette provides all the essential equipment for simple self-catering. Each studio has a balcony which either looks onto the hill-slope of Kassiopi Castle or the courtyards. Below the apartments the light catches on the water of the ‘Kalimera Swimming-pool’, perfect for lazy days when all you want is sunshine, cool drinks, light snacks and the odd dip into the pool. A two to three minute walk will take you to the nearest tavernas and further minute or two will take you to Kassiopi’s main beach. The harbour is about a 10 minute walk away down past the little square and along the main street lined with souvenir shops and bars, on the right is the old whitewashed church dedicated to Our Lady Kassopitra, and on the left a rugged pathway taking you up into the ruins of the castle. As you come round the bend in the paved roadway, the sparkling water of the harbour greets the eye and opens up to its busy bars and tavernas. Here the boats bob languidly along the front and in the distance the pale blue slopes of Albania merge with the infinite blue of sea and sky.
