Central Venice, but away from crowds.

positive:
Clean and comfortable rooms at decent price.
Guests who opted to stay at Santa Maria Nova said the rooms were clean, and the larger of the lodgings had plenty of room, even if a few people thought the other option a bit cramped. Furthermore, some of those who stayed said they thought the price was reasonable.
positive:
Spacious shared bathrooms.
According to reviews, the shared bathrooms here were spacious and well equipped, with only the occasional hot water issue experienced, and no issues around the lack of private facilities reported.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Staff not at all welcoming.
Santa Maria Nova's staff members were not thought to be particularly welcoming, polite, or responsive, with the added complication that their standard of English was not always thought to be great.
negative:
Hard to find, breakfast selection not great.
The breakfasts here were thought to be a bit poor in terms of selection, but made up for this with free coffee. On top of this, some guests said the B&B was hard to find, but then again, keep in mind that Venice is notorious for this.
negative:
No-one on site at night.
Although checking in is possible around the clock, a few guests were unhappy with the fact that there was nobody on site at night to help with anything that might go wrong.
