In the centre of the historic City of Florence, Hotel Orto de' Medici occupies a palace in a quiet street, full of original frescoes and antique furniture. Many feel the hotels best feature are its staff; always helpful, smiling and eager to pass on their extensive knowledge of Florence. Ice lollies await you after a long, hot day and there are welcome drinks on arrival. They also speak perfect English (along with a whole host of other languages).
Some love the classical décor but others feel rooms are more dated than antique. There is, apparently, a refurbishment programme ongoing, but some rooms and still in need of modernisation. They are, however, spacious and clean.
While hotel rooms are generally well-equipped, you may find a few items lacking. Rooms do not have tea and coffee making facilities, which some guests like to have, higher quality toiletries could be supplied and rooms occasionally lack a sufficient number of towels.
The Wi-Fi works intermittently in rooms. While frustrating for some, you may be content to use the internet access in the lobby where access is more reliable.
