The rooms have that sleek and modern feel to them, and feature private balconies, air conditioning, minibars, LED TV’s, in-room safes, tea/coffee stations, work desks and telephones.
Reception is open 24 hours and can assist with tours, transfers, laundry and local information. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the property.
There is a restaurant on-site that serves both Thai and Western dishes, and also a rooftop bar, the ideal place to toast the sunset with friends.
While iSanook Bangkok is quite centrally located, there is a shuttle bus to and from the nearest metro station for guests who require it. Bangkok’s Grand Palace compound is just three miles from iSanook Bangkok.
Positive Reviews
positive:
Free tuk-tuk services
Like a few central Bangkok hotels, Isanook offers free tuk-tuk services to the nearest metro station, as well as a couple of other spots nearby. While most are really within walking distance, the Thai heat could be brutal, so this service was much appreciated.
positive:
Great vibe on the rooftop terrace
Several guests mentioned that the rooftop bar was their favourite place to hang out at the hotel. They could order a drink or two, and either socialise or simply absorb the slow fading of the light as night approached.
positive:
Very good price
While the question of value for money didn't have a clear answer, most guests mentioned that they got a very low room rate. If they were happy with the less than spectacular location they felt that they received very good value.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Limited variety of food available
While most guests seemed to find the food at the restaurant to be acceptable, many mentioned that there really wasn't much variety on offer at any of the meals. If they had to rely on this restaurant only they would quickly have gotten bored. Fortunately there were some decent dining options in the neighbourhood, so they were not stuck with the hotel's food.
negative:
Some questions about the neighbourhood
While the hotel is pretty central it seems the neighbourhood is not quite on the tourist map, and a few describe it as either “suburban” or even a little shabby. They felt they would have preferred a location better known among other tourists.
negative:
Taxi drivers don't want to go there
Surprisingly, a fair number of guests mentioned that they couldn't get a taxi driver to take them there, even when the actual address was clearly set out. It is perhaps the case that the drivers expected no return fare, but whatever the reason guests found it very frustrating.
