Positive Reviews
positive:
Modern, remodelled rooms for a budget
Being in a former motel, the Hotel Iris has done well to transform the interior of its rooms into a comfortable environment with parquet or carpeted floors, chic accents and fittings as well as even a Jacuzzi bath in the King Suite.
positive:
Great convenient location in Mission Valley
Mission Valley is one of San Diego's most lively areas, a one-stop destination for shopping, dining, Qualcomm Stadium and the various parks. You can have a drive around to explore or jump on the trolley which stops a short walk away from the hotel. Either way, anything you need from groceries to relaxing parks is right in the area.
positive:
Pets are welcome
The hotel has a pet-friendly policy and for an added fee, guests can have their small pets stay with them in the room.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Tricky parking situation
Although the free vehicle parking is an advantage for hotel guests, it is quite small and limited in the number of spaces available. There don't seem to be quite enough spaces for all guests in busy times and there have been instances of people having to park at another nearby hotel instead.
negative:
No on-site restaurant or bar
Although the hotel rooms and suites all have a kitchenette or full kitchen area with utensils, some may prefer to at least have breakfast or drinks provided by the hotel rather than buying groceries or going out every day, which is not provided at the Hotel Iris.
negative:
Some noise ingress in rooms
The hotel is fairly close to a freeway and the walls separating adjacent rooms and the hallways are not soundproofed so depending on the location of your room, there may be some noise ingress. It is mostly drowned out by the air-conditioning, however.
