About Gliffaes Country House
Gliffaes is the only 4 star hotel in the Brecon Beacons National Park. Located off the beaten track in a wonderful position above the River Usk and surrounded by the Brecon Beacons and Black Mountains, a mecca for walkers and cyclists, canoeists, fishermen and horse riders.
The hotel has 33 acres of amazing grounds running down to the river along with an impressive collection of over 100 trees, with 40 of the best specimens mapped and labeled into a beautiful tree walk.
The hotel is family run and the third generation now look after the hotel with a very loyal and friendly staff. There are 23 bedrooms, all en-suite, all individually decorated and range in size and price. The biggest and most popular rooms have stunning views of the river and Usk valley.
Downstairs there are a couple of comfortable lounges, a bar and a sunny conservatory, all with wood burning stoves or open fires in winter. There is a large terrace along the front of the hotel, a magnificent spot for a summer lunch.
The owners are lucky to be able to source a good deal of our food locally, especially Welsh lamb and beef. Lunch and afternoon tea are served every day.
A wonderful base to explore Wales.
