Hotel Atherton Park Inn and Suites (Redwood City, USA)

If you need to be near Stanford, this is an easy place to stay because it's about 10 minutes away. Also, the inn is situated near local mom-and-pop restaurants, shops and Whole Foods Market.

The breakfast buffet was popular amongst guests who said it was generous and available for long hours. They said it contained: waffles, eggs, sausage, pancakes, cereal, a variety of breads items, coffee and juice. If you can't stay to eat, the inn provides a to-go bag.

Despite some complaints about the aging state of the inn, most guests said that the housekeeping staff did a good job of keeping the rooms very clean and spotless. They said it seemed like the housekeeping crew did as best as they could to make the rooms comfortable.

There have been complaints about strange odors emanating from the guest rooms. Some visitors complained that the rooms smelled like heavy sweat and that the stench overwhelmed them. Others thought the odor was more like a smelly, old carpet mixed with cigarette stench.

Guests expressed surprise at the condition and the value of the hotel for the rate they paid. Many said the accommodations are more like a motel than a hotel, as the room doors lead to an outdoors walkway and there's a significant amount of street noise being on El Camino Real.

Although the rooms are spacious and clean, they are very basic and no-frills. Things are not broken or dirty, but there's a worn-down quality to the hotel, guests say. It didn't give off a necessarily pleasant vibe.
