About Hostal La Fonda
Situated in the very heart of the charming village of Benissa, Fonda Maria Hostel offers budget accommodation to guest looking for a peaceful spot a bit apart from the hubbub of the coastal resorts.
The 11 guest rooms have been recently renovated. Each has been individually designed, and features quirky original artwork and bold décor. Each also features en-suite bathroom, air conditioning, TV, hairdryer and tea/coffee station. Wi-Fi is available throughout the property.
The public areas of Fonda Maria were designed in order to facilitate rest and relaxation. The lounge is a great place to settle back with a good book.
La Fonda Cafe is on-site, and ideal for light meals. There are a number of great options in the surrounding village. Reception staff will be happy to offer recommendations.
The beaches are about a six-mile drive away, but there is plenty to interest visitors in the ancient Moorish town of Benissa itself as well.
Positive Reviews
positive:
Excellent room decor
The hotel seems to have made some efforts to design unique rooms, with quirky and arty elements, and it seems that the guests did appreciate these efforts. Several guests mentioned that they found the rooms very original and stylish - a bit like being in a (well liked) modern art gallery.
positive:
Tea and coffee making facilities
Interestingly, several guests were (pleasantly) surprised by the inclusion of tea and coffee making facilities in their room. They clearly welcomed the ability to make themselves a quick hot beverage, rather than have to order room service or go out to a café.
positive:
Pet friendly
Though not often mentioned, those who did bring their pets with them were happy both that they were allowed, and also happy with the service and facilities available to them once there. They didn't seem to feel that pets were only grudgingly accepted.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Road facing rooms noisy
Several guests pointed out that the hotel faces a busy road, and that rooms on that side are particularly susceptible to noise. During the day this didn't seem to be much of an issue, but of course was annoying when trying to sleep.
negative:
Beds maybe a bit hard
Of course this is very much a matter of personal taste, but some guests did comment that their bed was quite a bit harder than they would have liked.
negative:
Very limited on-site dining
Guests point out that there is no breakfast available at the hostel, and also that the bar really only sells snacks. As a result they always had to geo out for meals, even if they would have preferred a quite night in.
